Weighbridge software

The weight is read at source, checked, and becomes a transaction. No more manual readings, no more re-keying. Part of our PILOT software.

The weighing software captures the value directly from the weighbridge, matches it against the expected operation, produces the associated document and keeps a record of the transaction. It handles single weighing as well as gross and tare weighing, on the way in and on the way out.

It connects to the weighbridges and indicators you already have, without replacing them.

Why manual readings always produce discrepancies

A weight read off a display, copied onto a ticket, then re-keyed into a business system some time later passes through three chances to go wrong. A transposed figure, a line out of place, the tare of the wrong trailer: nothing dramatic, but the discrepancy always surfaces in the end.

It surfaces at the worst moment, usually several days after the truck has left, as a haulier dispute or a stock difference nobody can account for. Sales admin then reopens a closed file with nothing to go on but what each side remembers.

Capturing the weight at source settles the question. The figure on the document is the one the weighbridge produced, and it stays tied to the operation.

How it works

Three real-world situations solved by this feature

The discrepancy only shows up as a dispute

The situation: The truck left long ago by the time the difference comes to light. Piecing together what happened means digging out a paper ticket, cross-checking times and trusting people’s recollections.

With the PILOT solution:

  • Value captured at source, with no manual reading
  • Every weighing tied to its vehicle and its operation
  • Transaction and its time stamp kept on record

The benefit: The file is settled by looking up one line, not by running an investigation.

The weight does not match what was expected

The situation: Wrong product loaded, quantity above the order, non-compliant trailer: the discrepancy exists at the moment of weighing, but nothing stops it, and the truck drives out.

With the PILOT solution:

  • Automatic comparison between the weight and the expected operation
  • Transaction blocked when the difference falls outside tolerance
  • Immediate alert to the operator, before the vehicle leaves

The benefit: The problem gets dealt with while the truck is still on site.

The weighbridge ties up an operator all day

The situation: Every pass needs someone there: read, key in, print, stamp. The weighbridge becomes a compulsory stop, including on extended hours.

With the PILOT solution:

  • Weighing flows straight through to the document being issued
  • Self-service operation from a kiosk or terminal
  • The same treatment at night and at weekends

The benefit: Your operator handles the exceptions, not every single truck.

Weighbridge management functions

Capture

  • Read directly from the weighbridge indicator
  • Single weighing, or gross and tare weighing
  • Several weighbridges managed on one site

Checking

  • Matched against vehicle, product and operation
  • Consistency checks with configurable tolerances
  • Transaction blocked and operator alerted on a discrepancy

Transaction

  • Weighbridge ticket issued in your chosen layout
  • Net weight calculated automatically in gross and tare weighing
  • Transaction picked up by the other functions

History

  • Every transaction kept with its time stamp
  • Search by vehicle, product, haulier or period
  • Export for inspection, audit or dispute handling

Working with your existing equipment

The software connects to the weighbridges and indicators already in service, whatever the make. It requires no change of weighbridge and no replacement indicator, which makes a considerable difference to the cost and duration of the project.

In self-service, the driver operates from a kiosk or a ruggedised touchscreen panel, built for dust and temperature swings. The operator, meanwhile, reaches the transactions through a browser, with no client to install.

The transactions produced feed the other functions of the software and flow up to your business system through ERP integration, with no double entry.

Where this function delivers the most

Sites weighing in and out

Gross and tare weighing multiplies the chances of error, and the net weight drives the invoice.

Multi-product sites

Several references loaded from several bays, so a real risk of a gap between the order and the load.

Sites with recurring haulier disputes

Disagreements over quantities come up regularly and are hard to settle.

Sites on extended hours

Weighing at night or at weekends, with nobody permanently available at the weighbridge.

Factories, logistics platforms, warehouses, port terminals, sorting and waste facilities: what matters is the shape of the flow and the number of positions, not the industry.

Case studies

One software package, several functions

Our PILOT software also covers truck flows, site access, production, the laboratory, downtime, reporting and integration with your business systems, all on a shared site data model.

You only turn on what you need, and you extend when the need arises, without changing tools or rebuilding interfaces.

The other functions

Weighbridge shares its data model with the other functions. Each one runs independently, on the same foundation.

Site access control

Identifying vehicles and people, permissions and a full record of movements.

Truck flow

Managing vehicle movements on site, from arrival to exit.

Production tracking

Machine data capture, KPI calculation and production trend monitoring.

Laboratory and quality

Sampling, methods, test plans and a full history of quality results.

Downtime and causes

Stoppages detected from signals and classified against a reference set.

Industrial reporting

Reports, dashboards and designers your own teams can use.

ERP Integration

Data flowing between the shop floor and your business systems.

Your questions answered

How does IBITEK’s weighing software work?2026-08-31T15:46:32+02:00

The software reads the value straight from the weighbridge indicator, matches it against the vehicle and the expected operation, checks it is consistent, issues the ticket and keeps the transaction with its time stamp.

Will it work with a weighbridge we already have?2026-08-31T15:48:22+02:00

Yes. It connects to weighbridges and indicators already installed, whatever the make, without replacing them. IBITEK handles that connection as a systems integrator, which is its original trade.

Does it handle gross and tare weighing?2026-08-31T15:48:59+02:00

Yes. The weight in and the weight out are matched, the tare carried over and the net calculated automatically, with no manual entry and no figure copied from one document to another.

What happens if the weight does not match the order?2026-08-31T15:49:44+02:00

The software compares the value against the expected operation and blocks the transaction when the difference falls outside the tolerance you set. The operator is alerted while the vehicle is still on site.

Can a driver use the weighbridge unaided?2026-08-31T15:50:37+02:00

Yes. The position can run in self-service from a kiosk or a ruggedised touchscreen panel, including on extended hours. Your operator then only steps in when something is wrong.
