Automating access control and traceability at a plasterboard plant

Logo de Knauf

At a Knauf site producing 30 million square metres of plasterboard, IBITEK deployed its digital solution to automate both vehicle access and the tracking of people inside the plant boundary. Automated barrier, badge controlled doors, business rules and ERP integration: the site has done away with manual checks, improved loading and unloading times, and now holds a continuous record of movements.

The context

Unlike a bulk cement plant, where the constraint sits at the loading station, the Knauf site had a broader problem to solve: controlling everything entering and leaving, vehicles and people alike. Keeping an accurate headcount of employees on site was difficult, which raises a direct safety question. In an evacuation, knowing exactly who is inside the boundary is not optional.

The issues identified before the project

Access control was handled manually, with the hold up that creates at every crossing and with no usable record. On the logistics side, trucks were spending far too long on site, loading errors were too frequent, and operational traceability was missing.

IBITEK’s response: identifying every entry

Vehicle access points were fitted with an automated barrier. The site doors were fully automated and badge controlled, which makes it possible to know in real time who is inside the boundary. That is the direct answer to the headcount problem.

As on the cement plant projects, business rules were configured and connected to the ERP so that logistics transactions are recorded without re keying and every movement leaves a usable trace.

Results

Access control is automated. Manual checks at every crossing are gone, which speeds up entry to the site without weakening control. Loading and unloading times have been improved, and operators have gained autonomy on the system. The site now holds a continuous record of movements, both vehicles and people, available for later review.

We answer your questions

How do you manage truck flow on an industrial site?2026-08-17T11:15:30+02:00

IBITEK manages the entire truck journey (booking, arrival, queuing, weighing, loading) through its IBITruck solution, configurable to your equipment.

The result: less waiting, fewer weighing errors and better visibility over inbound and outbound flows.

Which sites is this solution for?2026-08-17T11:16:53+02:00

It suits any industrial site managing truck flows, whatever the volume: cement plants, quarries, factories, logistics platforms or waste facilities.

Modular, it deploys for industry as well as waste and recycling management, integrating with existing weighbridges, barriers and terminals.

Does this solution integrate with my existing equipment?2026-08-17T11:21:50+02:00

Yes. It is modular and adapts to your equipment (weighbridges, barriers, terminals) and your processes. As an integrator, IBITEK ensures the connection with your systems in place.
